The good side of technology

Another vodafone song, which is pleasing and cute. It highlights the advantages of carrying technology with you via a smartphones. Love it.

Lyrics :

13 hours of bollywood on a very slow very old bus,

my personal entertainment is certainly a plus...

There's a sign at the crossroads but who knows what it means,

a second opinion would be helpful thank goodness for machines...

I think I am lost in translation and maybe lost in person,

I better find a shortcut before the weather worsens...

It gets lonely when there are no other humans,

that is why I say to you there is nothing like reunions.

Smart people use smartphones smartly :-)

Are you an open book?

I Guess My Life's An Open Book
Anyone Can Take A Look
No Secrets Here 2 Hide
This Is Just Me!
Holidays They Come Go
Feelings Change people Grow
All I Know Is I Like Being Free
Da Da Da I Wil Be Fine
This Is Me Now
But I Could Chage Anytime !!!

Beautiful ads Vodafone has! Nice, sweet and emotional song!

But keeping the emotions aside from the song, let's look at this. This is true of so many people now.... everyone's life has become an open book! Thanks to Facebook. And other social networking sites.
You get trapped in the puzzle and there seems no way out. You are given information you never needed, you get to see posts you never wanted to see, your blood boils with some people's opinions. You want to scream, shout.... but there seems no way out. After 3 years or so with facebook, and trying to make it a mini blog, I closed the book of my life from public view!

And now when I look back past 1-2 years, I was so hooked to it via net and via mobile, it seems so silly! Its such a waste of time and talent. And time is the biggest constraint. Now I've got time and yet too busy utilising every moment with new found goals and cause in life and running here and there. Not a moment to spare. I may not be visible anymore, but I am very much there!

Now when I see people hooked to their phones even in public places, causing nuisance to others in crowded trains and stations, (thankfully I wasn't that hooked, I was alert at the same time) I feel this entire exercise is such a waste. Sometimes it all appears like a well thought plan of an enemy which wants to weaken the youth and future of nations and world as a whole, while a bigger plan is being worked out. An attack when people are non alert and numb in their virtual world. I see young girls so much into watsapp and other sites, busy typing away that they do not realise, they're being ogled at or even touched in a crowd!!! I know the war thought is an wild imagination (what if its true?), but it can be worked out that way! Because the people with a cause keep away from such addictions. But they addict and weaken others!

And all this data one shares on social networking sites is stored and used and who knows tomorrow might work against you!

It starts off with connecting with friends, then some of your office pests (for courtesy's sake!), your enemies through your friends, people you dislike and offensive messages from unknown strangers are the things you get as a package deal !!! You have to be careful, block, fear hackers! Your peace is devoid as things start affecting you and likewise you start affecting others too!!! Its just not worth it!

A portion of Halal eating

Video copyrights and ownership :

Hi friends,
Those who want to know about what the term 'Halal' meat means must watch this video. This term is quite common to see and good news for many Muslims. With KFC offering Halaal meat, now this term is not alien to non Muslims as it was once! I remember once asking 'Pizza Hut' guy if they served Halaal meat, and the person seemed startled and confused. This was some 6-7 years ago! A lot has changed since.
Of course, this video just mentions the first part of Halaal, that is reciting God's name before the slaughter. This has a magical effect on the animal. The other portions are the exact vein to be cut, so that the animal experiences least pain and the entire blood oozes out from the animal. Of course this has its own benefits and the meat tastes better. But lets dedicate this post only to Part 1 of Halal. Cause this is what the video sticks to. Worth a watch. Before you start watching, halaal simply means 'permissible'.

The Danger of a Single Story - Perceptions and stereotypes!

What a wonderful writer and narrator she is. I really enjoyed every bit of the writer's narration. I have my own bit to add. A single story or cliches or stereotypes, as we call it, are in abundance in society. Notions, perceptions, often incorrect or based on others' views about people, communities, religions, regions etc remain engraved in most minds. Because people believe what they hear and read or what they see around them and use it to measure the entire lot of similar people.

Often such wrong perceptions lead us to make wrong decisions about certain people, be unduly fair /unfair to them and in some cases result in hatred.

Perceptions can be of many types. Just like negative perceptions about good or normal things exists, so can incorrect good perceptions about wrong things can exist. We need to go a step beyond and learn and research the truth about a thing, people or events before we start to believe it blindly. Its like having a mind of your own. But people have no time to know and understand. Believing the first story that's doled out before one is the order of the day. We are connected by the web, community sites and the world's getting a small place. But our hearts are getting smaller as we are getting intolerant. Our minds are contracting as we often believe the negative stories. Our sadist brains enjoy them.

I have seen unjust people in oft termed 'unjustly treated societies'. I've seen unethical practices in so-called traditionally rich and pure cultures. And I've also seen happiness and love being spread by those who have got only hurt and hatred. Such are the paradoxes of the world we live in. If only we open our minds to see. Cause no longer is seeing believing. But feeling it with your heart is definitely believing.

I pray that we do not restrict ourselves to single stories alone. But look beyond such stories that we read or hear.
